Math Day at UH for Middle School Students, Fall 2016
In Fall 2016, we held a Math Day on the UH campus for middle school
students from KIPP Liberation. We had three hour-long activities for the
middle school students based around mathematics activities that required them to
walk around the campus to make measurements and solve problems. At the end, we had lunch
and a one-hour panel discussion where the middle students had the opportunity to ask
questions about college.
The lessons and activities were designed by CHAMP volunteers, and on the day of
the visit volunteers from both CHAMP and the Metropolitan Volunteer Program (MVP) worked
with the middle school students.
