In Summer 2018, CHAMP volunteers assisted KIPP Liberation Middle School with their
Algebra Boot Camp for rising 8th graders. The middle school students engaged in
activities designed to prepare them for their first exposure to algebra in the coming fall.
In the mornings, middle school students attended sessions on "using variables
to stand for unknown quantities", "the language of Algebra", and "the science of
learning". In the afternoons, students learned to use logic by playing mathematical
games such as Mancala, SET, Tangram, KenKen, and Nonogram.
